Recently, Dijkstra Plastics and FIRE-OFF visited the Forbo Eurocol production plant in Wormerveer (NL) to capture our circular collaboration on video. In this video can be seen how used plastic packaging buckets (made of Polyproylene, PP) at Forbo Eurocol are collected for recycling, saving them from the incinerators.
These joint efforts strengthen our shared mission to close the loop of plastic packaging buckets and reduce the plastic waste stream.
The result?
Recycling results in more than 50% less CO2 emission compared to buckets that are simply discarded and incinerated.
Once the used plastic buckets are collected, FIRE-OFF makes sure they get shredded, washed and converted into a new recycled raw material (granules).
These granules are used by Dijkstra Plastics to produce new high-quality packaging buckets for the non-food industry, made of 100% recycled plastic. Thanks to this recycling proces, discarded buckets become granules and granules become once again a (new) bucket. A fully circular process!
In addition to collecting used buckets from their own internal process, Forbo Eurocol is actively encouraging their customers to participate in their mission to create a closed loop. For example, buckets used by tilers can then also be recycled through FIRE-OFF.

The FSSC 22000 Standard has been created through Stichting Certificatie Voedselveiligheid (SCV). As a food-oriented version of the ISO 22000 Standard, this certification programme has been set up as a global guideline in food safety and quality within various industries. This standard is aimed at the entire production chain and as such, it is ideally suited for international harmonisation, partly thanks to the recognition by the GFSI. In addition to its connection with ISO 22000, the FSSC 22000 has many comparisons with the HACCP criteria, making it an attractive variant with the best of both worlds from these programmes. Thanks to the internationally accepted nature of the FSSC and the chain-wide approach within this certification programme, we recognise a strong food safety management system in this standard.
